Google has announced new Gemini Live features that will let people use their voice to organize information, check their schedule, manage email, and delegate multi-step tasks.
The update is designed to move Gemini Live beyond conversation and question answering. The assistant will be able to work with connected apps after receiving a spoken instruction.
What will Gemini Live be able to do?
One of the main additions is an integration with Spark, a tool that can handle multi-step tasks involving Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and information available on the web.
For example, a person will be able to speak through several ideas and ask Gemini to turn them into an organized document. Spark will also be able to handle scheduled jobs that continue over several days or weeks.
Daily Brief will provide another practical feature. Users will be able to request a spoken summary of their important activities for the day by combining information from Gmail and Google Calendar.
Managing Gmail by voice
According to Google, Gemini Live will be able to search for messages, summarize recent emails, identify urgent communications, star messages, archive them, or delete them through voice instructions.
These features will not provide automatic access to an account. Each person will need to authorize the connection between Gemini and Gmail through the app settings.
More personalized answers
Personal Intelligence will use previous conversations and data from connected apps to provide answers related to the user’s context.
Google mentions services such as Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube. Connections will be optional, and each user will be able to decide which ones to enable.
Availability and subscriptions
Not every feature will be included with every account. Google says Spark will require a Google AI Pro subscription or higher, while Daily Brief will require Google AI Plus or a higher plan.
The update is rolling out gradually. The announcement does not confirm an exact availability date for every account or region.
